After 15 months in control of the station by the opposition ACE, their true nature – arbitrary firings, bannings, and suspensions without process, censorship, slashed programming on local issues, and an increasingly commercial-like hawking of merchandise – is now clearer to many. This is not the WBAI you love or the WBAI we need.

Justice & Unity has detailed, realistic plans to:

  • restore the station’s financial viability while maintaining our mission
  • raise funds for a permanent home
  • return local programming and mission-based premiums
  • restore freedom of expression on the airwaves and at the station, and
  • treat workers fairly and honor union contracts.

Also: To the best of your ability, please help us with the cost of mailing information to all other members. We have to raise thousands of dollars to assure that this year’s WBAI member-voters will get our message by snail mail, printed on paper. The opposition is extremely well financed and routinely outspends Justice and Unity. Given our meager financial resources, we need your contributions to get our message out in a timely manner.

You can help us ensure a progressive and relevant WBAI. Please make your check payable to “Justice and Unity Campaign” and send it to: Justice & Unity, PO Box 2690, Manhattanville Station, New York, NY 10027.

What our embattled comrade Lynne Stewart (unjustly sentenced to 10 years in prison in July – learn more at www.lynnestewart.org) wrote last year still applies:

“We are in the minority on the Local Station Board. We will never stop fighting back, but you can help us regain the power that is rooted in the many-faceted Left; in communities of color, in feminist and womanist movements, in lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender struggles, in labor and anti-imperialism groups – and make it the motivating power, once again, of WBAI. We will also work to once and for all change the rules to stop the corruption of elections that’s been created by allowing these expensive campaign mailings… So please contribute generously – -we have no funding source other than grassroots folks like yourself.”
