Take Three Simple Actions
There are now calls to sell WBAI. Take 3 simple actions to protect this vital resource. The Saturday deadline is coming fast. Please act now:
1. Protect your vote. Secure voting rights in the upcoming Local Station Board elections in one of three ways:
Donate $25 to WBAI by Sat., September 1, 2012, if you haven’t done so in the past year.
- Pay online at http://wbai.org/donate.php.
- Pay at the station and get a signed receipt (Monday-Friday, 9:00 – 5:00, 120 Wall Street, 10th floor, New York, 10005-call 212-209-2800 to be added to building security, and bring a photo I.D.).
By September 1, 2012, volunteer for at least 3 hours, if you haven’t given time in the last year. Call (212) 209-2826 or (212) 209-2800 to get started. Keep a record of the dates and times you worked.
If money is tight or you cannot volunteer, call (212) 209-2919 and request a membership hardship waiver. You can also email wbaiwaivers@gmail.com. You cannot share it, and only your name can appear on the application. It must be received, not just postmarked, by September 1, 2012. The WBAI Waivers Committee will review each application.
2. Protect your station. WBAI cannot afford its current $300,000 annual rent. Sign a petition urging management to secure more affordable space: http://www.change.org/petitions/save-wbai-move-wbai
3. Protect your participation. Attend Local Station Board meetings on the second Wednesday of each month. The next meeting is September 12, 2012, 7:00 p.m., place to be announced. There will be an open debate about relocating WBAI. Tell the board what you want for your station in public comment.
