ARE THEY DOING THEIR JOB?

The LSB has the authority to:

• Create the hiring pool for general manager and program director when those positions are open

• Annually evaluate management

• Approve and monitor the budget

• Require that management create a transparent and respectful programming process (selection, correction, change)

• Hold Town hall meetings to hear listener concerns and provide monthly on-air reports

HOWEVER, the board majority has largely failed at these core duties for about 15 years and the downward spiral of membership and income has followed.

In October 2022, the national board added the insult of violating the organization’s terms limits to the injury of not having ensured delegate elections.

In February 2023, two dozen staff and listener members sued about those bylaw breaches and while the judge has not directed the removal of those whose terms were improperly extended–only a membership vote can change board member terms–he has ordered that last year’s elections be done.

Those doubly-mandated elections have just begun…with an unadvertised hire of a National Election Supervisor.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

• Gear up to fight for your right to learn, to share, and to help bring change

• Reject cronyism and return our LSB to oversight with integrity

• Build a Local Station Board, and therefore a Pacifica National Board, that reflects your needs and interests and plays by our organization’s rules
