Pacifica is preparing to lay off most of WBAI’s paid staff, a devastating loss that will change the nature of the station.
An elected local board that influences its direction governs the station. The Local Station Board (LSB) has the power to evaluate the General Manager and Program Director and recommend the firing of either, as well as select the finalists for these positions when the jobs are open. The LSB is NOT a ceremonial body. It is key to how our station works.
Only those whose memberships are current will be able to vote in the critical coming board elections, so it’s vital to ensure your voting rights. If you’ve donated a total of at least $25 since last September, you’re already eligible. If not, please contribute now, as the cut-off date (also called the record date) is not known to any outside the Interim Executive Director’s inner circle.

We suggest adding two cents, either on your check/money order or as enclosed coins, along with a note of protest against the layoffs.
