Pacifica National Board meeting Fri., Feb. 22 – Mon., Feb. 25 WBAI Discussion: Sat., 3:40 PM (corrected) The Pacifica National Board, the network’s highest policy-making body, is meeting this weekend in Manhattan. Come and express your opinions about the dire state of finances, management, programming, and suppression of dissent at WBAI and Pacifica. Most currently, there is the legal threat to WBAI’s continued use of our Empire State Building antenna due to nonpayment of rent. (For details, click here.) Parts of the meeting are in open session, other parts (dealing with personnel, litigation, or commercial/real estate matters) are in closed session. Of particular importance will be the presentation by WBAI’s General Manager, Berthold Reimers, regarding the situation at WBAI, followed by Q&A from National Board members. According to the draft agenda just published (which is always subject to change), that session is Sat. at 3:40 PM. During at least 3 of the 4 days, there will be time for public comment. Usually each person is permitted to speak for only 2 or 3 minutes, so it’s good to plan your comments ahead of time. |
The open sessions and public comment periods are (for now) scheduled as follows:
Fri., Feb. 22, 9 AM – 1 PM – Public comment at 12 noon
Sat., Feb. 23, 11 AM – 7 PM – Public comment at 2 PM
Sun., Feb. 24, 1 PM- 7PM – Public comment at 3 PM
Mon., Feb. 25, 1 PM – 2 PM – NO public comment scheduled
Be there for as long as you can, to see exactly what they’re doing in your name.
The entire draft agenda, posted at www.kpftx.org, is subject to board approval and often changes from day-to-day, but public comment is usually set for a “time certain.” We may know more once they begin on Friday. (Call the Justice & Unity hotline, 212-591-2111 to check for changes.)
We hope to see you there!
