Hello
,
The current WBAI board election is crucial.
Membership has shrunk. Fund drives are longer and less successful. Programming is being gentrified and is failing our communities. Justice & Unity proposes an alternative: A limited-time, negotiated partnership with the nonprofit Manhattan Neighborhood Network (not "Time Warner," as our opponents falsely claim, or any other cable behemoth) would allow WBAI to advance on multiple media platforms and achieve financial stability — and it should be considered!
As the 2018 state and national elections have proven, it's a new day! We must massively increase our reach for the ongoing daily survival fights — and long before the primaries leading to the 2020 national elections.
To do that, the Board needs to fulfill its duties — approving a viable financial plan, evaluating management, and hiring a qualified Program Director. But all of our efforts to accomplish those endeavors have been sabotaged by the 10-year Indy/ACE board majority.
They are the slate of longtime junk-marketing king Steve Brown. His "offering" contains many misrepresentations, including that J&U candidates would support the sale of WBAI — which we have always opposed, especially while Brown himself was urging the sale of all 5 Pacifica broadcast licenses.
Please don't fall for it again.
