Inclusion on All Sides of the Microphone

By Cerene Roberts: I learned on Saturday morning that our beloved sister, poet and life guide, the incredible and incredibly real Faybienne Miranda has transitioned.  All of us who knew her are infinitely poorer for her absence. There is immediately less love, skill, gentleness, passion, wisdom, patience, art, genius, and light in our world.

Faybienne was known around WBAI as producer, and poet, of "Global Medicine Review" which she hosted with Dr. Kamau Koyaki. Without guilt or insults, the show explored multicultural pathways to improved physical, spiritual and mental health. "GMR" mostly aired on Wednesdays at noon until November 2010, when, after 8 years, it was "browned-out and nullified" by the show being cut in half and shunted off to 11 PM. In the world, she was known as a spoken word artist; as a member of the leadership team of Ifetayo, a cultural, community service organization in Brooklyn; and as the wife of Cliff "Moonie" Pusey, former guitarist of the legendary reggae group, Steel Pulse and leader of Highly-I, the band with which Faybienne performed.

In a community of superwomen, she was an extraordinary mother.

A memorial service will be announced.
