Recent changes at WBAI have further undermined democratic process and taken programming further from the mission.
This affects programs you hear, how the station is run, and local board activities. You can help. Please attend the next Local Station Board (LSB) meeting and voice your concerns. Justice & Unity members will push for the following:
–Reverse drastic program changes from November, 2010. No consultation with producers and rules violations resulted in:
–Poet/activist Louis Reyes Rivera purged from the air
–Community-based shows moved to late night or early morning, leading several to resign.
–Health businessman Gary Null given five days weekly for a commercial show.
–Interim Program Director Tony Bates, brought from Los Angeles, responsible for arbitrary programming changes, should have been evaluated 9 months ago, per by laws.
–Reorganize Management Search Committee (current committee chosen by the Local Board), to conduct reasonable search for Program Director, and allow staff to elect reps. Please come for all or part of the meeting.
Your participation is vital. See you there.
