WBAI is at a dangerous crossroads. The station and the Pacifica Network are teetering on the brink financially after years of mismanagement and the crushing of dissent. Our board opposition, led by junk-mail multimillionaire Steve Brown of “ACE” (the paper organization called Alliance for Community Elections), is using the Big Lie technique, falsely claiming that Justice & Unity wants to sell WBAI. To the contrary, for months we’ve been warning that Brown himself has publicly supported having Pacifica “sell all five of its licenses while they still have value” and either become an Internet-only network or liquidate and donate the multi-million-dollar assets. (For the full text of Brown’s July 2012 public email on this issue, click here.)
We will always stand firm in opposing the sale of the station or any proposal that would reduce our current audience and coverage area.
For insight into why Steve Brown misrepresents Justice and Unity, go to the website: http://whoisstevebrown.info. There you’ll find out how his company was constantly in trouble with many attorneys general, the US Post Office and Federal Trade Commission for his shady business practices.
To save WBAI, help Justice & Unity regain the board majority.
