New York City's progressive, listener-sponsored community radio station, WBAI, is in its most severe crisis ever! Due to mismanagement, economic instability, decline in listener revenue and other factors, WBAI is at a critical point. Recently, the entire paid staff received layoff notices that could go into effect July 15th.
Please help SAVE WBAI and preserve one of the few community voices left on the radio dial.
Our demands include:
1. No mass layoffs of paid staff, including paid producers and hosts!
2. Immediate implementation of creative on-air and serious off-air fundraising strategies!
3. A freeze on program changes, except as needed for vacations, illness, pressing news developments, etc., until a person to temporarily serve as Program Director is hired after proper vetting by the local board and station staff!
