1. Who Represents You?
LOCATION: ARC Central Harlem Senior Citizen Center, 120 W. 140 St., btw. Malcolm X & Frederick Douglass Blvds., Manhattan 10030.
On Wednesday, January 14, at 7pm, the WBAI Local Station Board meets in Harlem. There will be time allotted for public comment so you can share your concerns and expectations. There will also be elections by the board for representatives to the Pacifica National Board (PNB) that directs the work of the Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer.
WBAI remains in danger and at a crucial crossroads. While progress has been made on some fronts, there is much more to do to return to and surpass the station’s former status as a premier, broadcast operation. Your attention to the programming, your constructive criticism, your spreading the word about the station’s revitalization, and your financial support will make the difference in whether this tool for education and mobilization remains on the air as a non-commercial, progressive, community-oriented radio station.

2. How Far Have We Come?
On Monday, January 19, from 6am to 12 midnight, join new and longtime WBAI hosts to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. including non-dreamer speeches and analysis of today’s struggles for civil and human rights. The day’s broadcast will also be a fundraiser for the station. Tune in and use your personal and social media connections to invite others: 99.5FM in the tri-state, and everywhere at www.wbai.org.

On Dr. King’s actual birthday, Thurs., Jan. 15, at 7 PM, the People's Organization for Progress will hold its Dr. Martin Luther King Program at the Abyssinian Baptist Church, 224 West Kinney St. in Newark. After the program, planning will continue for the Million People's March Against Police Brutality, Racial Injustice, and Economic Inequality, scheduled for July 25 in Newark. Info: (973) 801-0001.
